Welcome

Welcome to Voltage magazine. This started to be a free magazine covering goth, industrial, and similar music and has been brought back several times as other things. This time it is a website generally still focused on the same subject matter. It might even show up as another free ‘zine.

When it started in the late 90’s, it was a free newsprint magazine distributed to the various music stores and other suitable venues in the Seattle area. There were music reviews, interviews of bands that played in Seattle, and articles on various topics. Various items that were printed ended up on the webpage.

I was the webmaster for that webpage. Photography and interviews are other things I did, as well as shlupping  the magazines once printed around town to be put into stores. I kept the website going for a while after the magazine ceased publication. I even made it Flash apps with music, games, and such after the dot com bust, as I was thinking Flash programming might be where I could go into. Later I just settled into a plain website but never kept it up very well. This time around, I’ve brought it back with a website service rather than trying to code everything myself. It’s much simpler and less work.

As for content, things should be along similar gothic-industrial topics. Starting with concert photography as I have lots of that and was looking for a place to put it all. From there go into interviews again. Beyond that, I am planning on highlighting art and artists rather than music exclusively. It’s all sort of still in the works and being made up as it goes.

Then it might head back into the realm of print. I used to do punk rock ‘zines in the 80’s and 90’s. I might do something similar with some of the content from the website. These will be the free small things that I’d leave where such advertisements and flyers are usually left.
