Tacoma World Goth Day

Last Saturday was the Tacoma World Goth Day. Actual World Goth Day had happened a week earlier, but this was when they could get the venue. It was held at the space Real Art Tacoma and there were a selection of vendors inside and out plus five bands and DJs.

Real Art Tacoma is a nice venue. Situated in a small neighborhood near the Tacoma cemetery that holds a sizable amount of bars, venues, and shops, it is a place that holds a lot of goth shows. All ages but with a separated bar area and a nice stage, it is a good venue for bands and other events. There’s a sandwich shop in the front and a second hand store that shares the entrance way.

The bands were Ghosts in the Graveyard, Licorice Chamber, Guilty Strangers, Plague Garden and Ravens Moreland. The first two were the only ones I had seen before as they are local. Ghosts in the Graveyard has the same singer as Dracula Party and sounds much the same with songs that sound like they are inspired by horror movies. Licorice Chamber is a Tacoma goth staple. Guilty Strangers and Ravens Moreland were LA goth rock bands and shared a singer. While watching, I had a strong desire to hear her go into a Cramps cover, but that did not happen, alas. Plague garden was goth rock from Denver.
